Almost 5 months since the accident.
Almost 3 months since surgery.
Around 6 weeks since I've started physio.
And the good news is: my scaphoid is healing well and both the physio and doctor have given me the all-clear to go snowboarding this winter! Not something I was expecting, and not something I will be doing immediately, but good to hear the news!
I have around 90% of the movement back in my hand (probably 95% if I use some force), but the strength in my wrist is definitely pretty poor. According to the x-rays (which to me look exactly the same as the last set - and I think that's a good thing), the screws haven't moved, the surface of the bone is smooth indicating the bone is perfectly aligned, and there is nothing to indicate long term problems with the blood supply (although the surgeon here admits that it's hard to tell with an x-ray, and only time will tell).
Naturally, the caveat for the snowboarding is to wear a wrist-guard, something I wish I had thought of prior to the last trip!
On a related note, my positive experiences with the medical system in this country continue. Not only was I able to schedule physio, x-rays and specialist appointments with only 15 minutes between them and have everything run on time, but I wasn't even charged to see the specialist because it was a short, follow-up consultation. Wow!
Sounds like you're lovin' Danmark Kevin, one day I will get there! hehe. xo
